The wanted elements were Winter, frost, with a strong romantic feeling. From a brief and manuscript, ideas were pulled and mixed to come up with the first sketches. The main things found in these sketches were the flowers and central layout to move into the next phase.

The final illustration features wind, roses, frost, and gold elements - with these themes continuing throughout the entire series. The typography is printed in gold foil, with spot UV on the flowers to make them feel like they are frozen, or coated in a layer of ice.
